"Perfect the Pig" and "Me First"

Perfect the Pig (Reading Rainbow Book)
by Susan Jeschke
Perfect the Pig didn't fit in on the farm with his family. He has always wanted to be able to fly and one day he is granted wings. His adventures include encountering a dear friend then evil exploiters and the story finally resolves happily when he and his friend are reunited. This story is captivating and provides good example of clear characterization and a good vs. evil plot.

Me First (Sandpiper Paperbacks)
by Susan Lester
Pinkerton Pig pushes his way ahead of others in piggish fashion so he is always first in line. One day his greediness lands him with the responsibility of taking care of a tiny sand witch instead of the "sandwich" he was hoping for. The illustrations are delightful. This story is appropriate to encourage discussion of fairness and polite manners.
